Global energy and resource needs are rising due to emerging economies and changing consumption patterns. Fossil energy sources are finite, more difficult to extract, and CO2 emissions cause environmental problems. In addition, there is a growing desire within Europe for more geo-politically independent energy and raw material extraction.
Global energy and resource needs are rising due to emerging economies and changing consumption patterns. Fossil energy sources are finite, more difficult to extract, and CO2 emissions cause environmental problems. In addition, there is a growing desire within Europe for more geo-politically independent energy and raw material extraction.
At the same time as the energy issue, a circular economy is emerging. Material streams find useful uses in new applications, allowing the cycle to be (partially) closed. Here too, origin certification can provide insight into the origin and quality of material streams.
